GIVING BACK: Company meets at SPI, donates to Club

The Port Isabel Boys’ and Girls’ Club received a nice donation this week from Cardon Industries for use of their ball fields. Well over 100 employees are in town this week for Cardone which has facilities in the Rio Grande Valley and across the border in Mexico. An event that normally takes place in Philadelphia found its way to South Padre Island this week, and it is benefiting South Padre Island and Port Isabel as Cardone Industries is in town for their sales conference.

From the revenue of those attending and money from outside activities, Cardone also contributed by presenting a check to the Laguna Madre area Boys’ and Girls’ Club.

“We are very pleased at this,” said Cardone Senior Vice President of Sales Dan Billie, “this week could not have been better.”

Cardone specializes in re-manufacturing auto parts, and they have facilities in Harlingen, Mexico and are looking to expand to Dallas. The conference is a week long and along with the training comes a chance for the company to take in some of the many things that the area has to offer.

“We don’t have this every year,” said Billie, “And when we have had one, it has always been in Philadelphia. When we looked at coming here they, promised us a great atmosphere, but they didn’t promise us great weather and it turns out we got both.”
