More than 45 activities to increase child wellness and summer fun will be showcased at the first Laguna Vista Play Day by the Bay, scheduled June 18 at Roloff Park from 8 a.m.-12 noon. The event is free to the public.
The activities are a part of the Third Annual Mayors’ Initiative Summer Feeding Program, now underway throughout the area. The summer activity is designed to encourage exercise and healthy lifestyles for area youth.
Students enrolled at the University of Texas at Brownsville will lead the morning events, according to City Manager Rolando Vela. Children of all ages, as well as adults, are invited to the summer event. Informational tables will be set up to provide parents with tips on child development and wellbeing, he added.
