LV eyes new ethics board

A plan to create a Board of Ethics with stringent inves­tigative powers in Laguna Vista is being considered here by the Town Council.

Under its recently adopt­ed Home Rule Charter, the Council “shall establish” an independent board of ethics to investigate and issue advi­sory opinions regarding any possible violation of conflict of interest and financial dis­closure policies, ordinances or laws.

The wide-reaching ability of the proposed board raised the eyebrows of some coun­cilmen.
