With an anticipated drop in taxable property value, Laguna Vista officials have entered into their annual budget-making process that will determine the level of community improvements and services that will be scheduled here for the coming fiscal year.

Expected to be a “tight budget,” City Manager Rolando Vela said he would deliver the document to Town councilmembers who are expected to set a tax rate on August 9. That rate will figure prominently into the overall projection for revenues and expenditures that likely to fall within the $1.5 million range.

The current-year budget has listed expenditures at $1,204,331 and revenues at $1,348,475. In 2009-2010, expenditures totaled $1,186,040 and revenues at $1,295,610, according to statistics listed on the Town’s website.
