Parks Board Applicants Sought
The City of Laguna Vista is accepting applications or letters of interest from residents wishing to be considered for three vacancies to the Parks and Recreation Board. The positions will be filled by the City Council at a future meeting. Persons wishing to apply, or who have questions, may contact City Manager Rolando Vela or City Secretary Alma Deckard at (956) 943-1973.
Special Meeting
A special meeting of the Laguna Vista City Council is scheduled for Saturday, August 20 at 4 p.m. at City Hall, 122 Fernandez Street, for adoption of the property tax rate for 2011. Regular meetings of the council are conducted at City Hall, 122 Fernandez Street on the second Tuesday of each month, and are open to the public.
Code Enforcement Officer Assigned
A police officer has been assigned to work from mid-afternoon to mid-evening specifically on code enforcement. As the officer works the streets, he will be making direct contact with property owners who have weedy lots, weedy alleys, property debris, and other ordinance violations.
