It’s been said that in Texas, football is like a religion.
For the Laguna Madre community, Wednesday night’s pep rally could be compared to a big tent revival.
City limits blurred as the whole Tarpon community came together to celebrate their school spirit and rally behind their students. “It was wonderful,” Port Isabel Police Chief Gualberto “Wally” Gonzalez said. “Everything went real well. We had a good crowd: about 1,500. It’s for all the students athletes from junior high to high school to each get a little bit of recognition.”
There were sparkling shows of skill as cheer teams took to the field to keep the vibe alive from all three schools in the area.
Athletes from junior high and high school were presented to their community in hopes of making the people familiar with their young home-town heroes to-be.
