Jr. high girls crowned district champs

Special to the PRESS

The seventh and eighth grade cross country teams competed at the district meet in Progreso on Saturday, Oct. 15, and did a great job representing their school.

Both the seventh and eighth grade girls were crowned district champions.

The eighth grade girls started the day’s running with a flourish. The girls beat out La Feria and Rio Hondo to repeat as district champions. The top seven finishers for the Lady Tarpons were Alex Martinez in first place, Casey Flores in second place, Kristina Aguilera in fourth place, Ashley Garcia in sixth place, Courtney Flores in eighth place, Michelle Martinez in ninth place and Anna Garcia in 14th place. The girls finished with a total of 21 points to La Feria’s 36 points.
