The 2011 Sandcastle Days are underway and are expected to excite seasoned and new visitors this year with an array of displays, activities, vendors and more.

The event is slated for Oct. 19-23 and will be located on the beach near Clayton’s Bar and Grill, on the north end of the Island.

Patrons are invited to “Watch as Master Sculptors compete to qualify for the World Championship,” according to promoters.

The Master Sculptors are renown throughout the country for their sandy works of art, and many, such as  Lucinda “Sandy Feet” Wierenga, call South Padre Island home.
