Construction is underway and Master Sculptors are already working to create their masterpieces.

The 24th Annual Sandcastle Days are going on in normal fashion despite the high concentration of red tide bloom on the north end of the Island. Co-founder of Sandcastle Days and Master Sculptor Lucinda “Sandy Feet” Wierenga said, “We’re going to have a good time here. …Come out and see the sculptures!”

There are 12 recognized masters working in the sand for this year’s festivities. Of the 12, three of them are of celebrity status, being stars on the Travel Channel’s show, “Sand Masters”

Kirk Rademaker, a California native and co-star of “Sand “Masters,” has been molding sand since 1997. Being in the construction business, he understood architecture, but needed a relief from the daily workplace stress. He decided to take his worries to the beach and there began his love affair with sand.
