The City of Port Isabel will be holding its Fourth Annual Community Tree Lighting Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 6 p.m. at Beulah Lee Park.
The event will be hosted by Mayor Joe E. Vega and the Port Isabel City Commission.
There will be many festivities taking place during the lighting, such as musical performances by a third grade choir, Laguna Madre Boys & Girls Club Choir, Pewee Tarpon Cheerleaders, Port Isabel Junior High Silver Stars and Cheerleaders, Port Isabel High School Silver Belles, High School Band Saxophone Ensemble, and the Laguna Madre Community Choir.
There will also be arts and crafts for the kids. Special guest appearances will be made by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Clause, who will ask children what they would like for Christmas.
The event attracted approximately 150 people when it began four years ago and the number of guests expected to attend this year are believed to more than double, if not triple.
“It’s a great new tradition,” said Mayor Joe E. Vega. “It is meant to bring together our community and kick off the Christmas spirit.”
