The 28th Annual Longest Causeway Run and Fitness Walk is scheduled Saturday, Jan. 14.
The first 3,000 participants are guaranteed shirts, but sizes cannot be guaranteed. Timing chips will be handed out to runners on Friday and Saturday.
The race is a 10k (6.2 mi.) run that begins at the Port Isabel Community Center and ends in front of Louie’s Backyard on South Padre Island.
The Fitness Walk is three miles and also starts at the Port Isabel Community Center and goes across the causeway, ending at the Padre Balli Statue just off the bridge going into South Padre.
Those who haven’t registered may still do so online at active.com/event_detail.cfm?event_id=1994917.
Participants can also register in person on Friday, Jan. 13 between 5-7 p.m. at the Port Isabel Community Center on 213 Yturria St. and Saturday, Jan. 14 from 7-9 a.m. The registration cut off is at 9 a.m. sharp.
Runners will have to pay a late fee of $5 in addition to the registration price if they want to join. Credit cards will not be accepted during late registration, so participants will want to have cash on hand.
