It was a fight for first place at La Feria Friday night and the Port Isabel Tarpons showed up ready to do battle. They led almost all the way and won the key district contest, 61-51.
With the win, Port Isabel remains in a tie for first place in District 32-3A with Rio Hondo, with both teams at 5-1 in district competition. Rio Hondo defeated PSJA-Southwest on Friday, 62-25. La Feria drops out of a first place tie with a 4-2 district record.
La Feria won the freshmen game, 59-9, as well as the JV contest, 48-18.
