January 2012 was School Board Recognition Month; a time to recognize school board members, according to the National School Boards Association.
As Dr. Estella R. Pineda, Point Isabel ISD Superintendent, said, “What we normally do to honor the board, on behalf of each campus, is select students to come before the board and read either their: UIL piece, competition piece, an oral reading/or creative writing piece. These students are selected by each of their respective school principalsand notice is sent along with a title of their writing piece.”
Additional expressions of appreciation and gratitude were presented to the school board of trustees to include: plaques of appreciation, which according to Dr. Pineda read, “Honoring trustee for dedicated leadership in public education and continuing service to the children of this community.”
