Texas Week may be over, but the community is still recovering from its effects while Spring Breakers from other parts of the country continue to flock to the area.

While nowhere near the numbers produced during Texas Week, Coca-Cola Beach and other Island hotspots continue to draw partygoers while area shops and eateries experience a substantial dip in customer traffic.

Meanwhile, Texas Week was marred by an act of unconscionable violence when 33-year old Michael J. Rangel of San Antonio stabbed 21-year beachgoer Derek J. Madrigal of Dallas nine times. Madrigal was said to be protecting a female companion from Rangel’s unwanted advances. The incident gained national exposure as video capturing the event circulated throughout the internet.
