Federal authorities confirmed Wednesday that the raid of a Port Isabel home owned by a man currently serving time on drug charges in Georgia was part of an ongoing investigation.

With the cooperation of local law enforcement authorities, the Hidalgo County High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force raided 1109 Trout Avenue, the home of Raul Prado, around 9 a.m. on August 28 in an effort to “seize property and/or assets which may have been acquired through drug related instances,” said Gualberto Gonzalez, Port Isabel Chief of Police.

This investigation will attempt to link the seized assets and property to traceable drug monies.
