Candidates set for November elections

Voters in the Laguna Madre area will hit the polls on Election Day, November 6, to decide the outcome of various races.

Candidates running for the South Padre Island City Council include Courtney Hayden, Place 2 incumbent, going up against challenger Alex Avalos; Pl. 3 seat holder Sam Listi faces Bill Doan, and Pl. 5 councilwoman Alita Bagley vies for reelection against Patrick McNulty.

Elections for the Laguna Madre Water District Board of Directors will also be held November 6. The positions available are for numbers 3, 4 and 5.

The candidates for position number 3 are incumbent Humberto Hinojosa, Reynaldo Puente and William John Thomas.

Position number 4 candidates are incumbent Jeff A. Keplinger and Anthony Michael Holland.

Candidates for position number 5 are Scott David Friedman and John Paul Thobe.

Early voting begins Monday, October 22, through November 2 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Voting on Election Day, November 6, is from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Polling places for both early voting and Election Day are the Bennie Ochoa County Annex Building for precincts 1 and 83, Port Isabel High School for precinct 59, City Hall Civic Center in Laguna Vista for precinct 67 and South Padre Island City Hall for precinct 52.
