B&G clubs host ‘A Day for Kids’

Special to the PRESS

Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Madre is gearing up to celebrate “Day for Kids,” (BGC Day for Kids) an annual event highlighting the importance of adults and children spending meaningful time together. This year, Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) is asking adults to ‘Pledge to Play’ by spending meaningful time with young people and engaging in active play. In Port Isabel and the Laguna Madre area, BGC Day for Kids will be celebrated with thousands of parents and kids participating in an event at the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Madre, located at 190 Port Road in Port Isabel.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Madre is one of hundreds of Day for Kids events planned nationwide (all events are open to the public). This event will be held on Friday, September 14, from 4-7 p.m. Activities include games, drawings, prizes, food, and concessions will be available for a fee. A DJ will also be on hand including a water slide, moon walks and other fun activities.

BGC Day for Kids Pledge to Play aligns with Boys & Girls Clubs of Laguna Madre‘s overall initiative to help young people become more active – ultimately establishing a sound foundation for success now and later. Play is great for young people. It fosters creativity, imagination exploration and helps kids develop and master various skills. Adults can take the Day for Kids pledge by visiting dayforkids.org.
