Special to the PRESS
Due to the threat of inclement weather this past Saturday, the Second Annual Pachanga at the Park was rescheduled for Sept. 22. The place and times remain the same, 4 p.m. – midnight at Washington Park located on Jefferson Street in Port Isabel.
The idea of having a “Pachanga in the Park” originated with a meeting by Mayor Joe E. Vega and commissioners about four years ago wanting to have a community family event that celebrates the Mexican culture and at the same time promote our park system.
The city will present a day of music, food, beverages, chalupa bingo and more. The festivity will include a chalupa making contest, a grito contest, dance contest, Mexican costume contest, a jalapeno eating contest, DJ and Live music, a presentation by the Derry Elementary Folklorico Dancers and lots of more fun activities.
