Special to the PRESS
The South Padre Island Unlitter Campaign announces its Fourth Annual Trash Art Contest to be held during SandCastle Days October 5-7 at Clayton’s Beach Bar on South Padre Island.
A lesson in recycling, this unique Island event invites artists and amateurs to pick-it up and mix-it up while stretching the conventional ideas of art. The trash sculpture must be free-standing and made from garbage saved from local beaches, roadsides and landfills, and the contest is open to everyone.
Entries should be at the ‘Trash Art Gallery’ by noon on Friday, October 5, and will be judged throughout the weekend by a People’s Choice vote. There are adult and children’s categories and cash prizes will be awarded.
