The streets of South Padre Island were covered with pink for the Ninth Annual Walk for Women event supporting breast cancer awareness this weekend.

Walk for Women was celebrated for three days with events each day at Louie’s Backyard, including a casino night with an auction, a fishing tournament with three categories and was capped with the 2.7 mile walk which began at the South Padre Island Convention Centre and ended at Louie’s Backyard.

President of Walk for Women Cheryl Hill said the events were a success that brought the community together. “We had high schools, cheerleaders, the police, fire department – everyone was out supporting breast cancer awareness,” Hill said.
