investigationMuch has transpired since the dead body of 65-year-old Michael McPeak, of Port Isabel, was found near the Paradise Cove Subdivision in Laguna Vista on Friday, October 12.

Investigators from the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department initially treated McPeak’s death as a homicide; contritely, pending the results of a toxicology screening, now they are not so sure.

According to Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio, “Investigators were able to locate a surveillance video that showed the man walking around 9:34 a.m. (Tuesday, Oct. 9) with his dog. [The video] shows him going into the water. It looks like he dove into the water.”
