Special to the PRESS
Port Isabel’s Halloween and Day of the Dead week is packed with family friendly events.
Now through November 15, the Treasures of the Gulf Museum will feature Day of the Dead altars and exhibits. Created by organizations or local artists and creative individuals, these altars can range in subject matter from a lost loved one or beloved pet to homage to an artist or event. For more information about the Day of the Dead holiday and this tradition visit portisabelmuseums.com/mopi/programs/day-dead/. Admission to the museum is required. Or visit during the October 25 Telling Our Stories evening at 7 p.m. – “Telling Our Zombie Stories!”
For the second year, a Ghost Tour is offered. This guided walking tour starts at the Port Isabel Historical Museum and continues a trail of ghostly sightings and stories around to the city cemetery and back to the starting point. Tours are scheduled for 7 p.m. October 27. For more information, call (956) 943-7602.
