A Port Isabel local playing a Texas Lotto scratch-off won $20,000.

Hector Martinez, Sr. purchased a Veteran’s Cash from Causey’s Circle Drive-in in Port Isabel. He said it was a pleasant surprise winning on a large scale.

“I think I might save it for a little bit, but I think our family will be having a Merry Christmas this year,” Martinez said.

Martinez said he tries his luck with scratch-offs once a week. He said he likes to play the $2 because they have been the most rewarding for him and he will continue to play.

“I usually play certain tickets, but it all comes down to what I think the lucky ticket might be,” Martinez said.
