A new judge could be appointed by Laguna Vista officials here at Tuesday’s special Town Council meeting.
Matters pertaining to selection of the new judge will dominate activity at the meeting slated at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
Four candidates have applied for the judge’s position. They include: William L. Pope of Rancho Viejo who holds a degree from the Baylor School of Law and is municipal court judge in La Feria; Heather Scott, a native of the Laguna Madre area who earned a law degree from Southern Methodist University and is employed with a Brownsville law firm; Ricardo Madrigal who served as assistant attorney general/regional office manager and who has a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center; and Bennie Ochoa III, local Justice of the Peace, who is asking for reappointment to serve as alternate judge for the Town of Laguna Vista.
