A matching grant and the work of some good “Friends” has landed $1,406 worth of new children’s books in the Laguna Vista Library.

Friends of the Library President Frank Davalos credits generous contributors, and the Laguna Vista Library Director, for the initiative that resulted in the new collection.

“Library Director Pura Mireles approached the Friends Board of Directors, asking for a contribution for matching funds to obtain a Libri Foundation Grant. The Board voted unanimously to fund the matching $350. Along with that the Libri Foundation Grant awarded us $1,400 in brand new books, and an additional $350 worth of math and science books through the Friends participation,” Davalos said.
