Efforts to amicably resolve matters dealing with the Town’s marina, continuing to operate on a balanced budget and possible annexation are among goals set by Laguna Vista Mayor Susie Houston upon entering the new year, 2016.

“I would like to see everyone involved working together to make the marina into an added jewel for Laguna Vista,” Houston said.

The future of the marina has been the subject of debate over the years with some residents advocating for major changes to its operation as a home base for charter captains and others preferring the status quo. The Town conducted a “constructive” meeting late last year with both sides represented, but resolution of the matter remains pending.

Continued sound funding for Town operations also ranks high on Mayor Houston’s goals for 2016. “I want to see us continue having a balanced budget. That’s important,” she said.
