Grab your binoculars and bring your sense of adventure because it’s time once again for Laguna Vista’s 11th annual Bird Fest and Nature Quest.

The day begins bright and early Saturday morning with a bird walk at 7 a.m. Meet with members of the Bay Area Birders at the South Padre Island Golf Club clubhouse before the walk begins. Steaming hot coffee, breakfast rolls and muffins will await you upon your return.

Norma Friedrich will present a talk about going beyond beginner-level birding, while Marilyn Lorenz will discuss the Rio Grande Valley’s butterflies. Later, John Yochum will teach you how to identify various types of shorebirds.

After a break for lunch at noon, representatives from Gladys Porter Zoo will wow attendees with a presentation entitled “Animal Fun.” The day will close out with a guided birding tour at 2:15 p.m.

Throughout the day, various venders will by plying their wares and attendees will have a chance to win raffle prizes.
