Port Isabel Tarpon hurdler Omar Silva did rather well at the Indian Nation Relays in Donna last Saturday.  He won the 110-meter high hurdles and placed second in the 300-meter hurdles by less than a second.

Other Tarpon athletes who medaled in their events were Nick Marquez, who was third in the shot put; Trey Mock, who placed a close second in the discus; and Fernando Garza, who tooksecond in the long jump.

Port Isabel was the only sub-5A team on hand in a 10-team field and the Tarpons more than held their own against the big schools.  They were third in the final team standings with 75 points.  Sharyland Pioneer ran away with the team title by scoring a total of 253 points, and Donna was second with 79 points.  Pharr Valley View was fourth with 69 points and Mission was shown in fifth place with 66.
