Lady Tarpons 5th at Indian Nation Relays

The Port Isabel High Lady Tarpons track and field team took fifth place at last weekend’s Indian Nation Relays at Donna.  Alex Martinez won gold in the pole vault with a vault of 9 feet 6 inches.

P.I. head coach Julie Breedlove is still trying to put together a complete team, and a key member of one of the relay teams was unable to go Saturday, so a fifth-place finish in a field made up almost entirely of Class 5A and 6A teams shows the abilities and competitive fire of these teenage athletes.

Other high-placing Lady Tarpons in individual events were; Madison Bickerton, high jump, 3rd-4-10; Brisia Gonzalez, 300-meter hurdles, 4th-52.64 sec.; Erica Mire, pole vault, tie-4th, 8-06; Ava Gomez, long jump, 4th-15-04.50; triple jump, Simone Harry, 4th, 33-08.00.
