The Shoreline Task Force met Monday afternoon for their regular meeting. With the recent resignation of Coastal Resource and Parks Administrator Reuben Treviño, city staff members have picked up the slack until a replacement is found.
Staff has begun the process of finding a replacement, however, with the formation of the new Shoreline Department, the city has designated the new position as Shoreline Director. City Manager Bill DiLibero and Administrative Services Director Wendi Delgado have posted the new position with a deadline of March 4. An interview panel has been set up consisting of DiLibero and Delgado, along with City Council Members Teresa Metty and Paul Munarriz, and Shoreline Task Force Members Troy Giles and Rob Nixon. The new position is expected to begin on April 1.
Since Treviño’s resignation, the city manager has distributed responsibilities among city staff. Until a director is found, Development Director Dr. Sungman Kim has taken over permitting reviews and grant applications while beach construction projects will be overseen be Assistant City Manager Darla Jones, whose recent work on the Convention Centre renovation proved to be extremely effective with the project closing out on time and well under budget.
