The South Padre Island City Council met Wednesday evening for their meeting after the busy holiday weekend. Regular business commenced with the approval of minutes and invoices for payment as well as the approval of the Economic Development Corporation (EDC) budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The City Council moved through the agenda, turning their attention to aesthetic improvements and issues on the Island.

One of the major topics discussed during the meeting addressed improvements that have long been proposed for the Island’s popular Entertainment District. According to Mayor Barry Patel, last year’s focus on Padre Boulevard Improvements, though still in the works, is finally coming to fruition with the funding obtained from the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant, and now is the opportune moment to begin looking at other projects, including improvements in the City’s Entertainment District.
