Trey Mock won his third gold medal of the 2017 season in the discus competition at last week’s Meet of Champions at Raymondville.

On his best throw Mock got the distance of 163-feet-10-inches and finished more than 7 feet ahead of Harlingen South’s Abel Villarreal, who threw 156-01.

Ian Torres threw a personal-best 49-06.50 in the shot put and took fourth place in that event.

“He (Mock) was in good form,” boys head track and field coach Joe Gonzales told the Press Monday.  “He’s doing great and hopefully he’ll be ready for district in two weeks.”

“My throw was good but that last throw could have been better,” Torres said at the athletic offices Monday.
