The Port Isabel Tarpons lost a close one at Lyford Tuesday night, 59-57, in their next-to-last non-district contest before district starts next week.
It was P.I.’s second game in less than a week against the Bulldogs. Last week, in the 86th C.E. Vail Tournament at La Feria, the Tarpons prevailed, 71-68.
After falling into a 14-0 hole early the Tarpons fought back and led 31-27 at the half. It was Lyford by two with seconds to play and Port Isabel played for the last shot.
“We were down two,” Tarpon Head Coach Mike Hazelton said Wednesday.
