The postponement of one game and a regularly-scheduled second one means games on consecutive nights for the Port Isabel Lady Tarpons basketball group this week.
Low temperatures and possibly icy road conditions made it advisable to postpone Tuesday night’s home contest with Zapata until Thursday afternoon. The girls were then set to hit the road Friday for a trip to Bearkat country.
“All the head coaches had their concerns,” P.I. Head Girls Coach Hannah Burleson told the Press Wednesday morning. “The final decision is with the administrator (superintendent of schools). Zapata’s superintendent decided it was too dangerous,” she said.
Last Friday, the Lady Tarpons were in Tarpon Gym against Rio Hondo and came up short, 59-41.
