Band back from state contest

The Port Isabel Silver Tarpon Marching Band returned last Thursday from the UIL State Marching Band Contest in San Antonio.  The band competed in preliminary competition in the morning, but failed to advance to the finals.

Technical difficulties intervened in a performance that was probably good enough for finals consideration.

“With our show this year we had lots of wireless microphones on the field,” Head Director of Bands, Scott Hartsfield said this week.  “We had… 14 mics out there.  So, the second we started our show there was static — somebody was on our frequency.  So we had to shut it off, or there would have been static the entire show.”
