Approximately 2,000 people were expected to take part in the 10th Annual HEB Feast of Sharing Wednesday night, and if the crowded tables at the Port Isabel High School gym were any indication, those expectations were met.
HEB partners with communities throughout Texas and northern Mexico to host Feast of Sharing events in the weeks just before and after Thanksgiving. Wednesday night’s event was the 10th such celebration in the Laguna Madre area.
For Rene Martinez, store director of the Port Isabel HEB, the anniversary Feast was his chance to get to know his new community. A longtime employee of HEB, Martinez took over leadership at the Port Isabel store only two weeks ago, he said. “It’s just great seeing the community coming together and celebrating with us,” he said with a smile lighting up his eyes.
