Defense key for boys at La Feria

The Port Isabel Tarpons played defense as well as they ever have last Friday night at La Feria.  They shut out the Lions, 5-0, in the first quarter, held them to nine points in the second, and won the District 32-4A basketball game, 51-36.

“We were playing some zone defense against them and, fundamentally, we were doing what we were supposed to do,” head Tarpon coach, Mike Hazelton, said afterwards.  “We were getting the hands up on the shots.  We were rebounding well and we weren’t letting them get inside the zone.”
