The Port Isabel Tarpons fought the Hidalgo Pirates hard all game long but in the end, came up six points short in a key District 32-4A basketball game at Tarpon Gym Tuesday night.
Port Isabel came into this game with wins in their first three district contests, including last Friday’s 66-50 win at RGC-Grulla, and an 18-4 record overall.
“It was a hard-fought game,” Head Coach Mike Hazelton said afterwards. “A lot of effort was put out on the floor.”
“The third quarter … killed us. They turned it up a little bit, outscored us 23-13. Then we had to play catch-up with them, and that’s hard to do,” Hazleton said.
