The Port Isabel Lady Tarpon track and field team was set to compete for the first time this Friday, Feb. 15 at PSJA Stadium at the Hog Relays, hosted by PSJA Southwest High School.
The PRESS found girls’ Head Coach Julie Breedlove outside the athletic offices this week and she shared her thoughts on the outlook for the 2019 season.
“We’ve got a mostly new 4 x 400 (meter relay) but we’ve got some new under-classmen that are coming in and will be able to step right into that one,” Breedlove said.
The team was scheduled to compete at last week’s Bobby Morrow Relays in San Benito, but less than ideal weather caused many events to be cancelled and Coach Breedlove decided not to compete.
