Five Port Isabel Lady Tarpon powerlifters have qualified for next month’s regional meet. The final pre-regional girls powerlifting meet of the season took place Wednesday at Los Fresnos High School.

Officially, it was called the Girls Regional Qualifier, which is to say that it was the final chance for female lifters in the region to qualify for regional competition. The state of Texas is divided into six regions for high school powerlifting, and Port Isabel competes in Region VI.

Julianna Barrera, competing in the 132-pound class, already had the necessary number of pounds on her best total lift (TL) of the season, and did not have to compete at the Regional Qualifier meet at Los Fresnos.
