Four Port Isabel High Tarpon power lifters have qualified for regional competition.
Neyfus Castellanos, Jonathan Mendoza, David Hernandez, and Jaden Lopez will all compete at the Texas High School Powerlifting Association Regional Meet, to be held at Bishop High School on March 8.
Two of these lifters will move on to the regional level on the strength of their high finishes at the regional qualifier meet at Brownsville Hanna High School last Friday. The other two advance on the basis of their top 12 regional rankings in their weight classes going into the Hanna meet.
Senior Neyfus Castellanos competes in the 242-pound weight class and placed second at Hanna with a total lift of 1,475 pounds.
