During this Christmas season, there are many families that can’t celebrate the way most do. I met with the congregation of the Lighthouse Assembly of God and their pastor, Steven Hyde, and saw how people help others who are not as fortunate. This Christmas season, Hyde said, he would like to see families come together in peace, and to share the message of the Lord with others.
On December 12, Hyde and the congregation made Christmas food baskets for the community, using donated food items. A sister from the congregation got together with other members and put together an angel tree, giving toys to children all around the Port Isabel area. Churches from Port Isabel, South Padre Island and Laguna Vista assisted as well.
