Who closes empty public beaches…One of the last few open spaces you can go to to get out of your house !
This is utter stupidity. I take my children fishing out in the open air where few people are around! I really don’t see the point except to grandstand in shutting something down to be part of the fear parade. Ridiculous to shut out local fishermen….
This is just dumb really what good will it do. I can see if it’s a restaurant but the beach really!!?
This is dumb until you find out that you got the Coronavirus while partying & somebody close to you that is older contacts it from you & they have a low immunity to it & dies. Now, was all that fun worth it??
First of at my age i don’t go to party! Im not a kid going for spring break. I go to relax and fish. Second if your ignorant enough to go and “party” with a bunch of people then you deserve what you get. So think before you comment and embarrass yourself again.
Sadly, it’s not about the impact on the idiots so much, it’s the affect on everyone around them when they go home. Wouldn’t it be nice if we had no idiots doing this? Local and State government shouldn’t have to shut everything down to protect innocent people…but they do!
So why haven’t they shut down all airports, First thing they should have done, everything has started there. This is ridiculous they can suggest the beach really.
Beach stay open
Am I missing something? A judge rules on laws. They don’t make laws. If he’s the law maker then we can tell the our representatives to go home .
Hell ya !!!!
I know, I know thst it’s college and uni Spring Break and we should heed the advice of medical experts (this pandemic IS a serious effin problem). Closing off the beaches is a misguided attempt though. Now the partying crowd will move indoors and be in closer proximity to each other. Defeats the purpose. Reopen beaches, Judge!
I presume this is because of the large crowds of drunk kids running around, seems like that cats already out of the bag, if you were trying to prevent them brining COVID19 you probably should’ve done this way ahead of time, they’re already here now…
This is 100% true we have a crisis, however 50% is pure panic and 50% is politically motivated!!! Close the beaches and open public facilities is not a responsible thing to do. Judge REALLY
Absolute BS. A judge can’t stop people from going to the beach. I hope this is ignored.
Are u going to refund me for my yearly access pass of 100.00 WHAT A JOKE !!! THIS IS DISCRIMINATION !!
I love the beach and I agree with others, this should have been done at the earlier stages, but It does need to be done. Keeping people safe should be always be a top priority.
One of the best places to GET AWAY from potential virus infested recreational facilities is just compounding the problem. I guess the virus is now capable of spreading across 50 miles of sand and 67° waves of water? What possible criteria was this decision based upon? Where else can people go and have 100 yards in both directions away from anyone else? The only CROWDED places on S. Padre Island beaches are the ones that WEREN’T closed right behind all the hotels and bars. You guys are making things worse and going too far with some of these closures. Everyone wants to be safe and some things make sense but this definitely is not something necessary to help quarantine the public for their own good.
I just confirmed my hotel reservations today. They told me most of the local restaurants were still open. I had no idea the beach would be closed. Guess I’ll just cancel my trip.
Agreed……should have been sooner, but the government is passing all this through media
I was over there today arguing my point they were still taking in RVs and camper reservations
How on Earth did it take this long? Hope these young and carefree party goers don’t infect highly at risk others or family members. Utterly selfish. The kids are young but the elected officials were put in office to make decisions like this. Inexcusable.
Locals should be allowed. Also I want a refund on my 100 dollar eztag after this or extended without extra cost. My husband rode his bike to surf at isla blanca and was kick out. Bunch of bs. How is it any different than being allowed in front of the effing hotels?
So while the Cameron County issued closure of county Beaches and Parks. Private land owners and bars, restaurants, hotels remain open to defiance.
I don’t care how safe you feel, the chances are real.
Mist and droplets can remain in the air 3-5 hrs.
Enjoy the coastal breeze.
May remain on surfaces up to 72 hr.
Update as I am writing this. Reports from the cruise ship that isolated many passengers and have released them, some to a abandoned Texas Airforce for further treatment.
Has just released the statement. ” after thorough sanitation. They are still finding active corona Virus on surfaces after 17 days”.
But to further confuse ya,
Why are all the orders to public awareness is to avoid, crowds more than 50 but was advised again to no more than 10. Other statements that say avoid.
To sum that up AVOID IS NOT A LAW AND SHOULD NOT BE ENFORCEABLE BY LAWENFORCEMT.
AVOID MEANS FOR ONESELF TO TAKE THEIR DECISIONS.
NOW IF THEY WORD IT PROHIT IT IS LAW AND CAN BE ENFORCED BY LAWENFORCEMT.
TILL IT’S PROHIBITED “FUCKIN PARTY ON BUT USE GOOD JUDGMENT
AND GOD SPEED
Closing the beaches is ridiculous. What about the people standing on top of people long lines going into the grocery stores. Less chance of being exposed on a towel on a beach and rushing through a grocery than standing face to face for an exaggeration of time. We know what we’ve been told about the virus living on surfaces like grocery carts, etc. I’ve never heard anything about sand.
Get over it, idiot. We’re in a middle of a damn worldwide crisis. The beaches need to be closed. I’m sure you’re not the only one who wants to be there. Now, imagine the beach full of people trying to have social distancing, coughing, and sneezing and the wind carrying these germs straight into your piehole. The beaches need to be closed to avoid such scenarios.
