Pharr Man Is Shot 4
Times Through Back

HARLINGEN, Dec. 2—Macie Henderson of Pharr is in the Valley Baptist hospital today with several buckshot in his back as the result of an attempted hold-up at Bluetown early Wednesday morning, and the sheriff’s office is attempting to find three men responsible for the shooting.
An X-ray taken Wednesday showed that Henderson had one slug in his left lung and two others in his back.
Trio Hails Driver
The Pharr man was turning the curve in the Military highway in the direction of La Feria when the shooting occurred. Three roughly clad men loomed up in front of the car and began waving as if they wanted a ride. Due to the early hour and the fact that he was unable to recognize the men, Henderson decided to drive past them.
The car had no more than cleared the party than a fusillade of shots rang out, tearing through the side and rear of the speeding automobile. Three of the buckshot slugs hit Henderson, but he was able to continue driving. He and his companion went into La Feria and reported the shooting to authorities.
Find Shells
Deputy Sheriffs R. L. Longoria, Bob Hall and E. M. Yanaga answered the call and investigated. They found three buckshot shells, two single action pistol shells and three 45 automatic shells.
The officers are of the opinion that the assailants are from the other side of the Rio Grande. Although it was raining, they were able to trail the men far enough to show that they were headed for the river after the shooting.
Three similar men known to have been from the other side, held up a man at Santa Maria recently and officers are of the opinion that this is the same trio. (The Brownsville Herald Dec2, 1932)
