Local EMS acquires new ambulance

The city-owned Port Is­abel Emergency Medical Services has been mak­ing headway in a number of ways compared to a year ago, according to of­ficials.

It now has a new com­pany that is in charge of billing, a new ambu­lance that is responding to emergency calls and a new computerized system to fill all the required in­formation regarding pa­tient receiving emergency care.

Charlie Wood, the EMS director, said their previ­ous billing company, Tex­as Medical Data Systems, went bankrupt.
