Teams converged from throughout the country Monday on South Padre Island as the 7th Annual NBA D-League Showcase began with four thrilling games. Played out on the same day that college football was playing their title game the crowds still came out to watch some of the best basketball in the world.
Imagine getting up every day and going to a job interview that determined if you had a job for the next day. That in essence is what a lot of these players from the 16 team league are doing. Each day at practice and most certainly in every game there are eyes watching to see if they have something that just might help out at the highest level of basketball there is.
This week the league is playing for four consecutive days and all eyes are on the players in the league as they all will be playing two games each. On day one there was no disappointment to the basketball fans on hand. There were high flying dunks, lightning quick cross over moves, last second game winning shots and even some overtime.
The first game of the day had two teams moving in different directions on the season but that didn’t limit fans to an entertaining four quarters of play.
