The 2010-2011 school year is at an end. The seniors have graduated and those involved in athletics have carried the school colors in competition for the last time.
In academics and athletics, it was a good year. This writer sat down with Port Isabel High School (PIHS) head football coach and athletic director Monty Stumbaugh this week in his office to get his thoughts on the year that was, and the year to come.
Stumbaugh attended this week’s Rio Grande Valley Sports Awards banquet at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen. For the first time a Sportsmanship Award was given out, and Port Isabel’s Bobby Barker was the recipient. Coach Stumbaugh presented the award to Barker.
