The cities of Port Isabel and South Padre Island experienced an increase in sales tax receipts collected in the month of July.
According to data reported by the Texas Comptroller’s Office, which tracks and reports sales tax information two months prior, Port Isabel reported a 2.77 percent rise in collections in July – from $225,976.59 in 2013 to $232,244.39 this year. This is up from Port Isabel’s 2.72 percent decline in sales tax collections reported during the month of June.
