More than 800 notices of outstanding citations will be mailed out to people with unpaid tickets in Laguna Vista during the month of February as part of the Great Texas Warrant Roundup.
With $1.3 million in outstanding debt from tickets issued here, the Town of Laguna Vista will focus on serving warrants to those who have unfinished business with the local Municipal Court.
Two full-time police officers will be assigned to rounding up defendants with active warrants, according to City Manager Rolando Vela.
“The Town will be having ‘Roundup Day’ on Saturday, Feb. 20. Our police officers will be rounding up defendants that day from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Municipal Court Judge Jeremy SoRelle will be in the courtroom to magistrate the defendants that are brought in,” he said.
Part of a statewide effort, the Great Texas Warrant Roundup 2016, Laguna Vista will be among 300 jurisdictions across Texas that will engage in this law enforcement campaign that begins the first week in February.
