The Port Isabel High Tarpons boys track and field team finished 3rd at last week’s District 32-4A meet at Tarpon Stadium.
Omar Silva won the 110-meter hurdles race, and just missed winning both hurdles events at the district meet for the second year in a row. He ran his fastest time of the year in the 300’s at 39.90 seconds but finished runner-up to La Feria’s Joseph Lunn (38.88) by a tick of the watch.
Silva qualified for Wednesday’s (April 20) area meet in Kingsville in both races. He also competed at Kingsville as a member of the Tarpon 4×100-meter sprint relay team, which finished 4th at the district meet. The top four finishers in any event are eligible for area competition.
